Tata Group & PSMC’s Ambitious Fab Facility in Gujarat
In a landmark move, the Tata Group has partnered with Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) to build an AI-enabled greenfield fabrication facility in Gujarat. This facility is expected to:
- Create 20,000+ jobs.
- Reduce India’s dependency on semiconductor imports.
- Boost the nation’s semiconductor manufacturing capacity.
TSMC: Driving AI and 5G Innovation
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has reported record-breaking sales of $26.3 billion, driven by the rising demand for AI and 5G-enabled technologies. The company’s high-performance computing division, which includes AI and 5G chips, now accounts for 53% of its revenue.
China’s Resilience in Memory Chip Manufacturing
Despite export restrictions from the U.S., China’s memory chip sector has achieved remarkable growth. Companies like ChangXin Memory Technologies have boosted their global market share to an estimated 10% in just five years, challenging established players worldwide.
Lam Research Expands in India
Lam Research is setting up an office in Gujarat to support the Tata-PSMC fab. This expansion reinforces India’s quest for semiconductor self-reliance and strengthens its fabrication capabilities.
